Market Savvy Sites

Sage Lewis, a web marketing expert, has announced a contest for those of us interested in—what else?—internet marketing!

You vote on your favorite marketing concept and get a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

You can also add a link to Lewis’s Promotion & Link Building column on your blog before March 6 to qualify for another $25 Amazon gift certificate.

Now on to a different type of site...

SheSpeaks, a leading social network for women, celebrates its second anniversary this month with 12 million members.

SheSpeaks’ main focus is product reviews. That’s right, the membership discusses their experiences with various products and services.

There is no charge for membership and your personal information is kept private. In other words, membership does not result in countless offers arriving in your inbox. Based on your participation in the site, you can receive invitations to participate in free trials of products to review. However, in signing up to test a product your mailing address and other personal information is shared with the company sponsoring the trial.

You are also notified by email of emails you have received from other site members.

A prime feature of the site is "Do Tell" product reviews that are created by members. Product pictures can be added to these reviews. While SheSpeaks states that it does not accept or publish product reviews by companies with a commercial interest, it is possible to create an account using a pseudonym or alias to review your products and services. As an affiliate marketer, that deception would be unnecessary.

I have not personally participated in the site. Conduct your own investigation to determine if SheSpeaks fits in with your marketing strategy. On the left side of the page you will see the various product categories. Click on any to bring up the menu of reviews. Notice you are limited to including non-active links in your reviews.

Remember, word-of-mouth marketing continues to be the most effective method for businesses to receive qualified leads and grow their customer base.
